Ever since I was a young girl and given a camera of my
own I have been passionate about photography. I grew up in a family
that considered marriage, children or a female appropriate profession
acceptable for a young woman. As a result, I did not consider
photography as a possible career.
I graduated from the Fashion Institute of
Technology in New York and embarked on a successful career in fashion.
My clothing designs appeared in such notable retail establishments as
Henri Bendel, Saks Fifth Avenue and on several television sitcoms. My
work was also featured in major magazines affording me the pleasure of
working with top fashion editors from Vogue, Bazaar, Mademoiselle, Self
magazines, The New York Times and Womens Wear Daily amongst others.
While working with these talented women I realized I appreciated the
creative act of photography more than the creative act of clothing
design.
At that point I decided to further my
studies in photography and attended Parsons School of Design in New
York. When Nikon World Magazine published my first series of
photographs I decided to make the switch from fashion to photography as
my full time pursuit.
My
work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and published in
major magazines. It is held in many prestigious private collections in
the US, Europe and Asia. Currently my work can be seen at The Center
Gallery, The Minneapolis Photo Center, The Art of Photography Show and
upcoming at the Professional Women Photographers 35th Anniversary
Exhibition.
